Georgia Fall Allergens

Fall in Georgia

What can you do in Northeast Georgia in the fall? What can’t you do, especially if allergies or sinus problems don’t hold you back! For example, you can go hiking in Tallulah Gorge, one of the largest canyons in the eastern United States, and view beautiful fall colors and waterfalls.  Or you can visit Georgia’s newest state park, Don Carter. As the first state park on Lake Lanier, you might enjoy an overnight stay in one of their cottages or choose a tent campsite. Whatever you choose, don't let fall allergies dampen your appreciation of Northeast Georgia's great outdoors.

Fall  Allergens & Food Allergies

Fall ragweed season usually starts in late August, which is when you're likely to notice symptoms often categorized as hay fever (allergic rhinitis). This systemic reaction results in itchy, watery eyes, a runny nose and sneezing. You may also feel more congested and find it harder to catch your breath. Add to that headaches and a pesky cough, and those lovely leaves piling up may be housing mold spores that are causing your symptoms. Unfortunately, seasonal allergens can trigger  some types of asthma, causing more severe and more frequent asthma attacks. If any of these concerns are affecting your enjoyment of fall or holding you back from being outside, let us help.

Our board-certified allergists in Northeast and Middle Georgia will conduct a skin test that’ll reveal your exact allergy triggers, and from there we can create a treatment plan that fits your budget and your schedule. For our asthma patients, we work with you to find the best asthma action plan that'll help you manage your asthma and keep you in a lifestyle full of the activities you enjoy.

Also, don’t forget about the upcoming holidays, like Thanksgiving! If you have a child who’s been experiencing an itchy mouth, swollen tongue, or serious stomach issues after eating, she may have a food allergy. Did you know that adults can develop food allergies as well? So, if you think your child isn’t feeling quite right after eating certain foods, schedule an appointment with our food allergy experts. We can help you determine what might be the culprit and how to avoid or best manage a reaction. Learn more about food allergies, allergies, or asthma today, and reach out to us to schedule an appointment. We'd love to help!
