COVID-19 Vaccine Update

We have received several questions from patients concerning the possibility of an allergic reaction to the coronavirus vaccine. With the information we have so far, and considering the incidence of a severe reaction has been less than two reactions per million doses given, we are expecting most of our patients to receive the vaccine without experiencing severe reactions.

Please visit American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology's COVID-19 vaccine: Frequently Asked Questions, updated on Jan. 18, 2021, for answers to questions you may have.  If any of the current information concerning allergies or allergic reactions changes, we will post an immediate update.

ATTENTION! ALLERGY, ASTHMA AND SINUS CENTER COVID-19 SAFTEY PROTOCOLS

The Allergy, Asthma & Sinus Center is now requiring anyone entering our facilities (clinic or shot room) who is age 6 or older to wear a mask over both the nose and mouth. Please note, we do understand that it may not be feasible for some children to wear theirs appropriately; however, control of the spread of COVID-19 is up to us all, so participation is necessary when possible and appreciated in order to protect those who are the most susceptible or vulnerable.

If you arrive at the clinic without a mask covering your nose and mouth, please do not enter the clinic. Instead, call the front desk (the numbers are provided below), and we will be happy to assist you. (Visit our tips on creating your own mask!)

NO FOOD OR DRINKS ALLOWED IN CLINIC – DUE TO COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS

COVID-19 Practice Statement

At The Allergy, Asthma & Sinus Center, the health and well-being of our patients, staff and the community is our top priority. Our offices will remain open to serve and care for all of your allergy and asthma needs.

The Allergy, Asthma & Sinus Center is staying informed on developments concerning COVID-19, commonly referred to as the novel coronavirus. As a practice, we will continue to follow the CDC guidelines that we have been following since October 2019: thoroughly cleaning bathrooms, common areas, and exam rooms, wiping down surfaces with disinfecting wipes, and ensuring hand sanitizer, hand soap, and tissues are available at all times.

Please note: We do not test, diagnose or treat for COVID-19.

To prevent the spread of infections, and specifically the spread of COVID-19, we continue to recommend the following protocol to our staff, our patients, and the general public:

  • If you have a fever and are scheduled for an appointment, call the office where you are scheduled prior to your appointment for specific guidance.
  • Exercise hand hygiene. Regularly wash your hands for 20 seconds with soap and water. Dry hands thoroughly with clean paper towels.
  • Practice respiratory hygiene/cough etiquette. Cover your mouth with your elbow or sleeve.
  • Avoid touching your face.
  • Wear a mask over your nose and mouth.
  • Appointments or allergy shots are being limited to one guest present (i.e., parent, guardian, partner). All other visitors need to remain in the vehicle. Exceptions include siblings if they have an appointment at the same or close to the same time. An example of this is two siblings in the same room with one parent or guardian.
  • If you are sick with a fever, stay home. Contact your primary care provider for assistance or instruction.
  • Avoid long air travel, cruises, and large crowds.

The Allergy, Asthma & Sinus Center remains dedicated to servicing moderate and severe asthmatics and those who may be at greater risk of complications from respiratory illness. We will continue to service immune deficiency and immune-suppressed patients as well as care for flu patients and patients with other respiratory infections. Patients who present with fever and acute respiratory symptoms – especially those with a history of travel – will be referred through appropriate channels for further testing.

FAQs

Should I keep my appointment?

Yes, as long as you do not have a fever. Our staff remains vigilant in keeping with CDC protocols. You will be asked to follow certain guidelines when you arrive (like 6 feet of social distancing), but you should feel comfortable being seen at our clinic.

Can I still get my allergy shots?

Yes! As long as you do not have a fever, we encourage you to stick to your shot schedule. Adherence is especially important now that we are seeing rising pollen levels.

What should I do if I think I'm sick with a fever?

Call your primary care provider or an urgent care center.
